Day One & Two - Lost in Transition

"Lost in Translation" was the title of a weird movie with Bill Murray, but the theme of day one on our Mediterranean cruise would have to be "Lost in Transition." I have to admit some major stupidity. First, I have always wondered "what is the big deal about jetlag...what's a few lost hours of sleep?" What a fool I was-bless all of you have suffered from jetlag and lived to tell the tale! We arrived in Barcelona, Spain on Sunday at noon, only to find that the lovely airline employees in Frankfort, Germany kept my suitcase. After crying in the cab ride over to the cruise ship (that poor Spanish-speaking driver probably thought "what is that American lady's problem?!"), we learned that we could use our trip insurance to buy clothes/shoes/'necessary' items until the bag arrived. My definition of 'necessary items' happened to include new Italian shoes for the formal evening:) It was interesting to say the least, trying to find several days' worth of clothes in the cruise gift shop! My second major stupidity - packing my carry-on very poorly with only one extra shirt. The second day was spent at sea, soaking up the sun by the pool and sleeping eleven hours to cover the jetlag. Here are some photos (with more to come later this week for each day on the trip).

The moral of the story....buy the trip insurance!!

Every night a string quartet played in the "Crystal Atrium" - huge crystals hanging from the ceiling and a gigantic screen on one end flashing different Impressionist artworks

Boats enjoying the sunny bay in Barcelona

Gotta love the fresh pineapple!
A view of the shore after sailing away

Is that the head of a happy cruiser or of a white beached whale?!
